Does love cheat?
Or do people cheat love,
of its expression?
Do daring affairs of the heart degrade a marriage within?
Or does ones honesty to love enrich the bond that love,
itself, once forged?
Do new romantic secrets of the heart defeat a timeless love?
Or do the drooping wings of joy defeat the love
that's left to die?
Do worthy horizons steal from the sun
to darken it?
Or do the horizons, bright with the sun
steal from the darkness
where love has not yet begun?
Rolf A. F. Witzsche
Oh, what great tragedies humanity has suffered in this dimension for its lack of love. Homes have been destroyed, families torn asunder, murders committed. How can love become so sadly abused and for such shallow reasons?
But we don't really talk about love, here, do we? We talk about contests in mutual domination instead of commitments to enrich one another's existence with the beauty of the human soul unfolding into joy in its brightness. How rich we are in this!
Only those who are poor in loving will ever feel cheated by love as they cheat themselves of its essence. Of course, this is not an easy subject to explore. of it.
